I didn’t really know much about background check until I got to this part of the world. It’s a very crucial part of many processes especially recruitment and immigration.
They look into an applicant’s profile, their history, and records looking out for criminal records, employment history, education and other activities. All these just to verify this said person is who they claim to be.
With this kind of system in place, it’s hard or almost impossible to claim to be who you are not because it’s only a matter of time before such a person would be exposed. This encourages openness and transparency.
If a system can be that careful in opening their doors to a new employee no matter how good the person is, don’t you think we should also exercise such caution before opening up our lives to a person for a relationship and then marriage?
How do we go about this?
– The Holy Spirit remains the best person for the job. You may need to pray some drastic prayers and be ready for whatever revelation comes from it. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the true personality of the person to you, their family background and any spiritual foundations that you need to be aware of. Many have walked into lifelong battles in ignorance of the kind of family they are married into.
-Ask questions! Secrecy is different from privacy. A relationship can be private but should never be a secret. If you are open to key people, you will be able to get helpful information about the person from them if they find out anything.
-Open your eyes and don’t live in delusion. Check their social media handles, their friends, their very old posts and many more. It’s sad to see married people disguise as singles just to get a lady.
-Trust your intuition. If you find anything suspicious, they may try to downplay it! Be careful and don’t fall into that trap, you may speak to a counsellor about your suspicions. Better to be careful than to be sorry.
