One thing common to many great men whose stories we have watched or read is the tremendous support of the woman in their life. She throws her weight behind him, supports him in his endeavor, encourages him when it seems like he is giving up, and would be the first to sing his praise even before his success becomes visible to the world.
Even though we can say that of some women, it’s quite a few. There are many women out there whose spouses do not support them in pursuing their dreams for whatever reasons. When last have you sat your woman down to ask her what she genuinely wants out of life and how she would want you to support her in achieving same?
If you are privileged to have a woman in your life, pls be a bridegroom indeed. Before she’s a wife or mother, she’s first a human with dreams and aspirations and she deserves to live her dreams. Do not be selfish and demand of her unnecessary sacrifices.
It hurts to see women who could have become giants in their space whether career, spiritual, political, or whatever space, become a nobody in the name of marriage. I know your usual line is that she’s making a sacrifice and her children will thank her for it, but do you know that she can be a wife and mother and still be all God wants her to be? Let your woman live!
And to you woman, don’t lose yourself! There is a lot more to you than being a ‘Mrs’ and ‘Mummy’, remember those dreams and aspirations, you don’t have to bury them. Live and blossom.
