I’d like to share two of the sweet stories sent to me about Mothers-in-love.

Story 1: Giving birth through CS does not make a woman lazy. From my own experience I was given a drug that made my baby weak and I had to go through that process but thank God for my mother-in-law because I couldn’t pray I was angry, she encouraged me and prayed for me. My mother-in-law thought how to pray while doing house chores because I barely had time to sit down and pray. Thanks for this challenge.

Story 2: My mother in law is the sweetest thing that has ever happened to me. The very first day my husband introduced me to her, the love was massive. She is my go to person any day, anytime. I remember when I had some issues sometimes ago I called her on phone we both cried together that night and she encouraged me and then we prayed together. When she came visiting us I thought I will see another character but she is the realest person I have ever seen in this life. I still have a biological mother but I am now closer to my mother in law than my biological mum. I know I will do her proud and I will give her wonderful grand children.

These are awesome testimonies of the Mothers-in-love of this time. In all of these stories and many more I may not share as I want to conclude this post on the Naomi Challenge, one key to being a great Mother-in-law like Naomi is to take your children’s spouses as your own children. It makes loving them easy. There are so many ills our biological children commit against us as parents some times but we forgive and keep forgiving them, out of love we even make excuses for them. Extend that same love to their spouses.

My mama Pst Adepeju Olatunde , usually tell in-laws on the wedding day that they have just given birth to a new son or daughter and this is so true, after all two have become one flesh. Reminds me of one of my sisters whose Mother-in-law calls “my last born”, that’s a mother that has come to a full understanding that the day her son married that lady, he brought home a daughter for her to care for and nurture.

Also, seek to understand your daughter-in-law just like you understand your children individually, bearing in mind that everyone has peculiarities. Seek to know what she loves and try to win her heart as she tries to win yours. It should never be one-sided with only one party putting in all the effort. This brings about a blissful and enviable relationship between you two.

I had to share this particular topic regardless of how I like to stick to issues of relationship majorly and this is because it was pressing in my heart. If you have hurts against your Mil or Dil, there’s still room for reconciliation. Let go and let love lead. Seek godly counsel if need be, it’s usually very helpful.

May the Lord give to us mothers like Naomi and help us to be one.

Thank you for engaging with me on this discussion. Hopefully we’ll talk about how to be the best daughter-in-law sometime soon, until then, keep winning.
