THE HUNTING SHADOW – EPISODE 5

The Goodbye Night
The night air felt heavier than usual.
After the oath beneath the old tree, John and Amara began the slow walk home.
Neither of them spoke at first.
The silence between them was thick.
Not the silence of peace.
But the silence of two hearts that were afraid.
Afraid of tomorrow.
Afraid of distance.
Afraid of losing each other.
🌙 The moon followed them quietly as they walked.
Amara wiped her eyes again.
John noticed.
But he said nothing.
What words could possibly make this easier?
The gravel road crunched beneath their feet.
Each step felt like a countdown.
A countdown to goodbye.
💭 Amara’s Thoughts
What if he never comes back?
What if this oath was the last moment we will ever truly belong to each other?
Her chest tightened.
She suddenly stopped walking.
John turned.
Before he could ask anything, Amara rushed into his arms.
She held him tightly.
Almost desperately.
As if she feared he might disappear if she loosened her grip.
🗣 Amara (voice shaking):
“I hate this distance already.”

John wrapped his arms around her.
Firm.
Protective.
Gentle.
He rested his chin on her head.
🗣 John:
“I’m coming back for you.”
Amara pulled back slightly and looked into his eyes.
Her eyes were red from crying.
But they were searching.
Searching for certainty.
🗣 Amara:
“You promise?”
John nodded slowly.
Then he spoke with conviction.
🗣 John:
“I swear it.”
They resumed walking.
But slower now.
As if both of them secretly wished the road would never end.
The lights of John’s house appeared in the distance.
That small house suddenly felt like the edge of a cliff.
Because once the night ended…
everything would change.
🏠 Inside John’s House
The moment they stepped inside, the silence became even louder.
No music.
No laughter.
Just the quiet breathing of two broken hearts.
Amara sat down first.
John sat beside her.
For a moment they said nothing.
Then Amara spoke again.
🗣 Amara:
“What if you forget me there?”
John turned sharply.
🗣 John:
“I could never forget you.”
🗣 Amara:
“People change when they travel.”
🗣 John:
“I’m not people.”
Amara leaned her head on his shoulder.
For hours they talked.
About memories.
About their first meeting.
About the silly arguments they had.
About the future they dreamed of building together.
Sometimes they laughed.
Sometimes they cried again.
And sometimes they simply held each other.
Because words were no longer enough.
But emotions are powerful.
And grief can confuse the heart.
The fear of losing someone can make tomorrow feel too far away.
The longing to hold on can make people forget wisdom.
Slowly…
very slowly…
their closeness deepened.
A hug lasted longer.
A silence became heavier.
A heartbeat became louder.
And something neither of them planned began to happen.
Grief turned into longing.
Longing turned into desire.
And desire blurred the boundaries they once promised to protect.
In that fragile moment…
they chose comfort.
Not wisdom.
They held onto each other like two people trying to stop time itself.
A final moment of love.
A goodbye they believed would protect their bond.
But the night carried consequences neither of them could yet see.
Outside the window…
the wind moved through the trees.
As if the world itself understood something they didn’t.
Destiny had already begun to move.
And the shadow of their decision had already begun its silent journey.

Sometimes the greatest danger in love
is not hatred…
but uncontrolled emotion.
