Growing up a fresh university student wasnβt one of my flamboyant experiences. I wasnβt availed of most of the luxuries my contemporaries had.
Imagine a part-time student of LASU, paying school fees of over a hundred thousand Naira and my salary as a primary school teacher was 8k per month. One of the pictures below showed where I could only afford a plate of fried rice for both of us in an eatery
Yet I did fail to cut my coat according to my clothes, I still went ahead and fell in love. Someone should ask me, βna me dem they find among guys dating/courting a fine girl?β, with a salary of 8k, schools fees of about 130k.
This wonderful babe @Olabisi David still decided to stay, not only that, endured with me throughout our premarital time, despite I could not even try to be an ordinary lover with the capability of the slightest financial responsibility.
The main reason for this episode was HOW YOU WOULD SHARE WITH ME, THE POCKET MONEY, WHICH YOUR STRUGGLING WIDOWED MUM GAVE YOU TO TAKE BACK TO UNILORIN FOR THOSE SEMESTERS, ALL THE WAY FROM LAGOS. I would feel so ashamed because it was my responsibility to give you something back to school, but choiceless-shamelessness would make a hungry boyfriend collect his girlfriendβs pocket money.
I know your mum too would be surprised now about how you were sharing the pocket money she struggled to give you as a widowed mother, but I am no longer shameful cos I have proven my worth. I have fulfilled & still fulfilling my promise back then to stay with you in the good and the bad, and to pay back with every opportunity I get, even to your ones struggling mum, for sharing with you, her hard-earned money.
(I DONβT MEAN TO BRAG WITH THIS, BUT FOR A LESSON) β But this was the reason I decided to buy our recent car wholly in your name. Not as Mr & Mrs David, but strictly Olabisi Davidβs Car. I havenβt gotten to the level at which I want to pay back, but the more I grow, the more I payback for your years of sacrifice, belief and endurance.
