Monday morning
I left early for school and attended my first lecture as a final year student. It really brought brief happiness to my life, making me put all my fears behind me. I religiously faced my studies.

Tuesday evening approached very fast, bringing Emmanuel with it. I was writing an assignment when i heard someone knock on my door. I thought it was Mariam, but was a bit surprised to see Emmanuel standing nervously with a coloured face.
βHelloβ i greeted coldly, before paving way for him to enter my room. He calmly sat on my bed, while i returned to my assignment which i faced seriously.
βWhy havenβt you been answering my calls?β he asked calmly,
βBecause i have been very busy, which you can see for yourselfβ i replied coldly.
βI came to apologize for the way i treated you on sundayβ he said slowly,
βYou have nothing to apologize for, i perfectly understandβ i replied,
βSeriously iβm yet to get myself, it hasnβt been easy for meβ he tried to explain, but i interrupted him rudely.
βYou have no need to explain yourself, letβs forget about itβ i muttered without caring to look up at him. He stood up and drew close to me..
βI know you are still angry with me, tell me isnβt it so?β he asked searchingly.
βPlease iβm not angry, allow me to concentrate on my assignment, i still have four pages to coverβ i replied with a slightly raised tone.
βI have to get going, itβs almost 6pm, do take care dearestβ he murmured, stood hesitantly for a while before leaving my room. I never bothered to say goodbye to him.
5:15pm wednesday
Mariam dragged me to a boutique which was just few houses away from Emmanuelβs apartment, giggling happily as she showed me the gown which made her drag me out by that hour.
βMary isnβt it beautiful?, i canβt afford waiting till tomorrow, because i canβt risk losing it for anythingβ she explained happily as i stared at the beautiful gown. She really was very right, the pink cute thing was well designed with a lovely material.
βYou are right dear, the gown is worth the troubleβ i replied with a smile. She laughed and quickly paid for it.
As we left the boutique minutes later, i begged her to accompany me to Emmanuelβs apartment which was just few steps away. She wasnβt happy about it, but had no choice than to follow me.
But you guys canβt imagine the surprise, shock and anger i felt when the door to Mikeβs apartment was opened by no other person than Stella, three minutes later.
βOh dear good evening, I guess you are looking for Emmanuel, he went out minutes agoβ Stella giggled with bright eyes. I breathed deeply, as i desperately tried to control my temper.
βItβs in our best interest to keep our thoughts quiet, letβs goβ Mariam cleverly whispered, before dragging me away.
βAinβt you going to leave a messageβ i heard the obnoxious Stella ask as we left the building.
I wasnβt myself as we headed back to our lodge that fateful evening, because not only was i jealous and angry, i equally was very doubtful of Emmanuelβs intention towards me. My thoughts wandered aimlessly, while the police officerβs advice came rushing into my head,
βYou have seen nothing of what we call lifeβ; your boyfriend is false in heart, in mind, in soul; he has a false flattering tongue, false lips, false principles, you better be carefulβ he had advised me on Sunday, but i choosed to ignore him.
βCould he be right?β i wondered, βno no no Emmanuel wonβt be so stupid as to get back with her, there must be a solid reason for her to be in his houseβ I fearfully concluded.
Mariam and i didnβt say much to each other when we got back to the lodge. She soon retired to her room, while i settled to sleep, but i kept tossing on my bed uneasily due to my unhappy thoughts. Unable to control my emotions i dialed Emmanuelβs phone number only to get the greatest shock of my life.
βHello Maryβ he answered in an unusual manner seconds later,
βI came to your house earlier in the evening with my friend, didnβt Stella tell you?β i asked. He kept quiet for some seconds.
βNo she didnβt tell me anything, why didnβt you wait for me to return or call my cell phone?, i could have rushed home instantlyβ he asked,
βThere isnβt any need for that since your wife is already thereβ i answered coldly,
βI wanted to explain this to you the last time i came over to your place, but you never granted me the audience, Emmanuel Said!
βI am sorry to tell you this Mary, things can never work in between us anymore. Lets go our separate ways. I am so sorryβ¦β¦..β
He was still about apologizing when i switched off the phone instantly. I couldnβt believe my ears. I was totally confused on the next thing to do. I cried hell out that night and was lost in thought all through the night that i never knew it was day break already, and iβm to visit Samuel that very day together with Mariam accompany me.

Early the next day, we headed to Samuelβs family house, very scared, confused and nervous. but i was consoled with the fact that i was doing the right thing.
