THE RING I COULDN’T WEAR – Part 4
“Mike.” Samuel called as he saw him enter. He had thought Rachael was back from the clinic to break the bad news to him.
“Man of God!” Mike grinned as he entered. “See how you are sweating, Samuel.
You must have been „pressing‟.” That was their usual word when they referred to praying. He had thought Sam had been praying, but reverse was the case.
Samuel hissed. “I wish I was.”
Mike chuckled. “So, why are you sweating? What‟s wrong?”
“Nothing.” He sat down adjacent to him.
“I know you very well, Sam.” He said. He saw the Bibles on the table and smiled. “I know a revelation can‟t be giving you an issue, you have passed that, Sam. So, what‟s wrong?”
“I said nothing!” He replied firmly.
Mike sighed. “Okay. I only came to tell you I spoke with Reverend Philip earlier today and he said they have secured out accommodation finally, so we don‟t have to worry again.” He grinned.
Sam was lost. He definitely didn‟t hear what Mike just said. He didn‟t even look as though he was in that room.
“Sam!” Mike called.
He came back to consciousness and looked at Mike. “Yeah, what did you say?” he asked.
Mike opened his mouth in surprise. “So, Eyou really didn‟t hear me, Sam?”
“Sorry, I was thinking about…em.. you know ministry is not a small thing, so I was just..”
“Man of God, you and I know you are lying. When it is not as though I don‟t have Holy Spirit.”
He shrugged. “You have Holy Spirit and I have mine too, Mike. See, leave me alone.”
Mike knew things were not alright. But what could it be? Even when Sam was called by God, he was happy. He knew Sam loved to work for God and eventually God called him. His own case was surely different from Mike‟s own. Mike didn‟t want to be a pastor! He already planned his own life before God interrupted his plan and told him he would become his servant. So, if there was anyone to be worried about ministry, it shouldn’t be Sam!
“Sam, talk to me, what is it?”
“What did you say you came here for, Mike?”
He spurted out air from his nostrils and repeated himself.
“Okay. I have to pray now, Mike. Please, get going.” He said as he stood up, ready to usher him out.
“Really? Let us pray together, Sam. It‟s been a while, you know you have been busy with the handing over programs and it‟s been a while.”
“No, I have to do this alone. It is an intercession God placed it my mind. I had a vision that a lady died in our church and I have to pray.”
“This is out church in question, we attend the same church. We can pray together.”
Sam looked frustrated. “Is it by force? God told me to pray, not us.”
Mike knew he had overstayed. But what was wrong with Sam, really? He was a loving brother and they have been friends for years now. He could remember when
Sam started attending that church, he had nowhere to stay because he wasn‟t a Christian from the scratch and his parents threw him out after he told them about his encounter with Jesus.
Sam also knew he was not an ordinary person. He knew God would use him for his work and he was truly ready for the assignment. He was blessed with many gifts of the spirits and through that, he has been able to navigate a lot of paths and pull people out of the prison of the enemies. But now, is this how they‟d get back at him? He didn‟t know the answer to give the million questions flowing through his mind.
“If I may know, who is this sister you are talking about, Sam?”
“I didn‟t see her face, Mike. I just knew I know her and she attends our church.”
“Okay. I will pray about it also.”
“Better.” He said and shut the door as he left. He retired to the sofa and picked another plate of his tears.
