THE RING I COULDNβT WEAR – Part 6

40 DAYS BACKβ¦
Promise packed the plates on the table to the kitchen. Rachael walked to the door as she saw Promise approaching. βIβll soon be back, Promise.βΒ
Promise glimpsed at the wall clock. βThis is 8pm already, Rachael. Why donβt you visit him tomorrow?β
βI just want to see him for some important stuffs, I will be right back.β She replied.
βBut it is late already, Rachael. By the way, it is obvious that itβs going to rain.β
She swooshed out a long breath and held the handle of the door. βThank God his house is not far from here, Promise. Iβll be right back.β
Promise shrugged. βJust know it is late and remember he also stays alone.β
βHe is a spiritual brother, purify your thought!β
Promise chuckled. βI know he is. But spiritual brothers are not stones also.β
Rachael shook her head. βYou are carnal!β
βThis is not a matter of carnality, Rachael. Anyways, donβt be long.β
βSure. Please be here so I wonβt start knocking. You know Mum and Dad have gone to bed.β
βSure, I will wait till 6pm. If you are not back, thatβs the end.β βI should be back.β She replied.
βThis is not a matter of should, Rachael. You must be back! A whole Bible Study Coordinator. Pastor wonβt know that you coming here to sleep tonight is because you want to use a stone to kill two birds.β
She chuckled. βAll the best for you.β She replied and left.

Rachael hardly got to Samβs house than the rain began. She rushed as fast as she could and finally got to his place. She wanted it to be a surprise visit, at least she came to visit Rachael and she just wanted to seize the opportunity to meet Sam just for few minutes. βGood evening.β She grinned as she entered.
Sam was surprised. βI wasnβt expecting you, Rachael. Whatβs happening?β he asked.
She shrugged. βNothing. I have been at Rachaelβs place, so I just came to say hello to you.β
He chuckled. βBut it is late already, and youβve been beaten by the rain.β
βIt was refreshing.β
Sam peeped outside. The rain was really getting heavier with ear-splitting thunders backing up. βWhat will you do now, Rachael? This rain is getting heavier.β
βI donβt even know. I will just watch it and leaven when it goes down.β She replied.
βOh, please sit down.β He said as he walked to a seat too. He hardly sat when the electricity went off. βThis is an error. Sorry, you are welcome to the house of a brother without a generator.β He said jokingly as he stood up and navigated the darkness to get his phone so he could use itβs flashlight.
As he stepped back into the living room, he met Rachael already shivering so much. βThis is strong. Just stand up and follow me so I can give you one of my shirts and youβll change into that.β
She shook her head. βNo, donβt worry. I will be fine.β
He wasnβt satisfied. It was getting severe and the rain was getting more wicked. βNo, I disagree too. You cannot be like this and certainly cannot go out into that rain by this time too.β He said as he walked to her side and pulled her up. He held her, helping her to the room as he looked for one of his shirts and gave her. βJust put this on, Iβll be outside.β He said and dropped his phone so she could see while he walked out of the room for her.
In no time, Rachael changed into Samβs shirt but that couldnβt stop the shivering. It only got worse. She got to the living room and met Sam seated in the dark there.
βIβm sorry.β She said.
Sam smiled. βYou are still shivering, Rachael. Just sit down, let me get you a hot tea.β He said as he stood up and collected the phone, walking to the kitchen. He made the tea and sat beside her as he dropped the tea. βJust sip this.β
βYou want to be forming a gentle man, right?β
Sam grinned. βYou know I am, donβt you.βΒ
She kept shivering. Sam held her hand. βSorry.β He kept saying, graduallyβ¦. the light went out and the ministry of darkness continuedβ¦
