THE HUNTING SHADOW – EPISODE 10

THE MESSENGER

Pain changes people.

Not always loudly.

Sometimes slowly.

Quietly.

Until one day…

you barely recognize yourself.

⏳ Years of Weight

Years had passed since the oath.

But neither John nor Amara had truly moved on.

They survived.

But they did not heal.

🌍 In America

John stopped believing in lasting love.

Every failed relationship hardened him further.

He became quieter.

More guarded.

Less hopeful.

At night, he often sat alone staring through his apartment window.

Thinking.

Remembering.

Questioning.

💭 Was all of this really because of that oath?

For the first time in years…

he could no longer dismiss the thought.

🇳🇬 In Nigeria

Amara’s pain became silence.

After her failed marriage…

she withdrew from people.

She laughed less.

Spoke less.

Trusted less.

Even church became difficult.

Because every time she tried to pray—

the memories returned.

The baby.

The dreams.

The tree.

The shadow.

🙏 An Unexpected Invitation

One Sunday morning, a friend visited her unexpectedly.

🗣 Friend:
“Please come to church with me today.”

🗣 Amara:
“I’m not in the mood…”

🗣 Friend:
“You’ve been alone too long.”

Amara almost refused.

But something inside her…

tired and desperate…

finally agreed.

⛪ The Service

The church was already full when they arrived.

Music filled the atmosphere.

People worshipped freely.

But Amara sat quietly at the back.

Disconnected.

Emotionally distant.

Then the pastor began to preach.

At first, she barely listened.

Until he said something that froze her completely.

🗣 Pastor:
“Sometimes people bind their future with words spoken in fear.”

⚡ The Stirring

Amara looked up immediately.

Her breathing slowed.

Her hands tightened.

🗣 Pastor:
“An oath made outside God can become a door for torment.”

The room suddenly felt smaller.

💭 The tree…

💭 The oath…

💭 John…

Tears began filling her eyes instantly.

🌑 The Hidden Wound Opens

The pastor continued preaching.

But Amara barely heard the rest.

Because memories were flooding back violently.

That night under the tree.

The fear.

The words.

The promise.

And suddenly…

everything connected.

⛪ After the Service

People slowly left the church.

But Amara remained seated.

Nervous.

Shaking.

Finally, she stood up and walked toward the pastor.

🗣 Amara (voice trembling):
“Sir…”

The pastor turned gently.

🗣 Amara:
“Can a promise destroy someone’s future?”

The pastor looked at her carefully.

Not with judgment.

But with understanding.

Then he answered slowly.

🗣 Pastor:
“Not a promise.”

He paused.

🗣 Pastor:
“But an oath made in fear can.”

⚡ The Realization Deepens

Those words pierced her deeply.

Because for the first time…

someone had finally explained the darkness she could not understand.

🗣 Amara (crying softly):
“Can God still help someone after so many mistakes?”

The pastor’s expression softened.

🗣 Pastor:
“Daughter… that is exactly why Christ came.”

🌒 The Beginning of Hope

For the first time in many years…

Amara felt something unfamiliar.

Not peace yet.

Not freedom yet.

But hope.

Small.

Fragile.

But real.

And somewhere across the ocean…

John sat awake again.

Still haunted.

Still searching.

Unaware…

that help had finally begun to move toward them.

📖 Scripture Reflection – Episode 11

“The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”
— Book of Proverbs 22:3

Sometimes…

freedom begins the moment
someone finally understands
what has been destroying them.
